    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Most of the time there is plenty to get involved with and so many opportunities to get exposure to the potential roles within the company.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The company employees over 30,000 people and yet I felt very much part of a close group.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The whole way through the placement I felt as though my development was the primary goal of the placement and, as opposed to being hired as cheap labour, I felt like there was a strong mutually beneficial result in mind.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were times when there was perhaps not as much to do as there could have been. Generally, the balance between workload and time was very good.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • There is a lot of responsibility available on the placement as the idea is to provide you opportunities to experience what a job could be like after university.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt and developed so many skills throughout my placement, especially transferable skills that I've been able to apply to my life outside of work as well as with my course.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a very social and friendly atmosphere to the office which was very welcoming.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement scheme was a little shaky at first as I was the first student for a few years in the GIS department which was a learning experience for myself and the company. Future placements have since been very well organised.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company is willing to help you develop in as many ways that they can. Perhaps not to the same extent as they do once you graduate but certainly to a very good level.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I'm back with the company now and it's great.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • During my year there was only one other placement student. Last year there were four students and there are quite a few other young people in the office to socialise with as well.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The office is in Warwick and the cost of living in the area is certainly a shock from student accommodation prices but not much more than other areas and the cost of living was never a huge draw on income.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Warwick is quite a quiet town but luckily Leamington Spa is about as close as Warwick town centre and so there is plenty to do there. Not to mention Coventry and Birminham being so close. There are some really nice bars and pubs in Leamington and a good few clubs.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There's a sports and social club which holds 5-a-side matches one a week, a yearly interntation football tournament, beginner golf days, canoeing trips and social events such as the Summer Ball, Christmas party and unofficial dinner evenings organised within the department.

    4/5
