The Role
The placement was brilliant, my degree is in events and I did have to work in hospitality for the first three months, but once in the events department I gained invaluable experience.
Very valued, you are trusted to fulfil all duties required in the department and are never made to feel like an intern. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, I even accidentally called my manager 'mum' twice during my year there.
Great guidance by management, they are always willing to take the time to help
Very busy, I worked a tonne of extra hours and therefore got a great breadth of experience
Full responsibility, duties were inline with all other full-time employees
A great deal, although whilst on placement it is difficult to make connections between studies and practice, once I returned to university I could understand and visualise all theories in action.
The Company
A real buzz! Light hearted humour to keep everyone happy when stress levels are high!
A placement structure wasn't provided upon arrival at the company. Although I am appreciative of all experience gained, I didn't know how long I would be on the hospitality desk for before I moved into events. This being said, when I wanted to extend my placement into the second summer they were very accommodating and kept me on!
You are given all training required to fulfil your role. I was also given advise on how to fulfil some managerial duties.
Subsidised Canteen
Very, I'm employed as a graduate with them now!
The Culture
Everyone is very sociable and willing to partake in end of week meet ups etc! Any employees who have left the company stay in contact and regularly attend social events with us.
London is expensive but you just have to be savvy! Make the most of happy hours!!!
Amazing. I missed our regular haunt so much when I went back to university.
not with work, but people in the office are up to all sorts at the weekends and are always willing to take a plus 1!
