The Role
Currently I am working in front of house at reception. I have gaind lots of knowledge and continue to learn day by day. There is lots to remeber and can be stressful at times but everyone has been very encouraging and supportive.
Everyone was very welcoming and easy to get along with. Everyone was willing to help me learn all the different elements to the job.
I was given lots of help when starting. I was taken on showrounds round the hotel so that i could get a basic knowledge. Throughont my placement process when i have had question to ask the management have always been willing to help and give me guidance.
We are very busy nearly everyday but I never feel like I cant handle the work load.
In the early stages I started by doing checkin and after training i progressed onto checkouts. While doing so I learnt how do deal with ledgers and account to companies. From the begining I was involved in the operations.
I have learnt and approved on my customer service skills, complaint handling and time management. These areas will help me later in different aspects of my life. Learning how to meet the standards of the different cusotmers and exceed their expectation to react a 5 star standard.
The Company
Everyone has been very supportive and the atmosphere between the reception team is very good. Other time I intergrated with the different departments and got to know a lot more people.
There has been good communication between staff at the hotel and the university.
I have had lots of different chances to have extra training throughout the process.
Subsidised Canteen
Above 25 days holiday
The company encourage the staff to come back and work with them.
The Culture
I had a good relationship with my colleagues will continue to talk to them after my palcement is over.
The hotel in located in the centre of london which means it can be expensive to go out around. The cost of getting to work is okay if prepared.
i was invited to go out after work however it is difficult to attend as i live far away and would strugle getting home.
