    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Currently I am working in front of house at reception. I have gaind lots of knowledge and continue to learn day by day. There is lots to remeber and can be stressful at times but everyone has been very encouraging and supportive.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was very welcoming and easy to get along with. Everyone was willing to help me learn all the different elements to the job.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given lots of help when starting. I was taken on showrounds round the hotel so that i could get a basic knowledge. Throughont my placement process when i have had question to ask the management have always been willing to help and give me guidance.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • We are very busy nearly everyday but I never feel like I cant handle the work load.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In the early stages I started by doing checkin and after training i progressed onto checkouts. While doing so I learnt how do deal with ledgers and account to companies. From the begining I was involved in the operations.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt and approved on my customer service skills, complaint handling and time management. These areas will help me later in different aspects of my life. Learning how to meet the standards of the different cusotmers and exceed their expectation to react a 5 star standard.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone has been very supportive and the atmosphere between the reception team is very good. Other time I intergrated with the different departments and got to know a lot more people.

  • There has been good communication between staff at the hotel and the university.

  • I have had lots of different chances to have extra training throughout the process.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I had a good relationship with my colleagues will continue to talk to them after my palcement is over.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The hotel in located in the centre of london which means it can be expensive to go out around. The cost of getting to work is okay if prepared.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • i was invited to go out after work however it is difficult to attend as i live far away and would strugle getting home.
