    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A thoroughly enjoyable experience working with and meeting a host of great people. The roles will offer you a chance to learn a lot about the company, what each function does and also to get involved in a number of CSR activities.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was working on several different projects during the year. With regular team meetings and calls, my colleagues were always very interested in what I was working on and always listened to what I had to say.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My management team has changed several times during the year, meaning inevitably that I experienced several different types of management styles. On the whole, all managers gave me any necessary training and support before I started a task. If I needed advice they were always very responsive via email or call, without looking over my shoulder constantly.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Like most internships, mine started slowly as I got to grips with the terminology, systems and the company culture. After a while, the management team found more and more projects/tasks that I could be involved with meaning that I was busy all the time.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Great chances for responsibility, which I didn't really expect before the intership started. Innovation and new ideas are always encouraged - the more you show, the more opportunities you will get.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The role itself probably won't be applicable to my degree. But the soft skills and the MS office skills learnt will be very useful for future jobs.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in the office is very friendly and approachable, yet there is still an element of professionalism maintained.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • This was the first year that they offered a commercial placement, so to begin with they were unsure on exactly how the interns will be used, particularly as there were a number of management changes through the year. However, now that there is a settled management team and a clearer role for commercial interns, I believe that next years organisation will increase drastically in comparison to when I started.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company offer a number of training courses for you to attend. They're a good chance to interact with team members and grads.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Largely depends on where you are based and where you live. It's probably easier for people to socialise living in Reading/working in Bracknell, where many interns and grads are based. But there are a number of events throughout the year that will bring all the interns together, and are always a good chance to catch up.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Again depends on where you are based. I'm living in Reading, in the student area so living costs are fairly cheap.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Number of bars and clubs in Reading town centre, and also the students union if you know anyone at Reading uni!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • If you are interested in sports then there are a number of activities you can get involved in. I have taken part in a Fujitsu vs HP cricket match, 5 a-side football tournaments, a few golf days and do circuit training.
