    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I found that the placement grew as time went on becoming very enjoyable once about 6-7 months in.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • In similar timescales to the enjoyment, I felt more and more valued as time went on. I felt Fujitsu could have valued me higher from the start but perhaps there is an argument to be made that they want to see what you are like before throwing you in at the deep end.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My role has given me good exposure to several senior figures in the company who have always been prepared to make time for me despite having very busy schedules. This has been very helpful and has improved my development during my time at Fujitsu.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Workloads varied, some days would be quieter while other days would be very busy. Overall I would suggest I was utilized at around 65% of my capacity.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Towards the end of my placement I was being given a good level of responsibility but in a safe environment that allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them,

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My time management and prioritisation skills have greatly improved. Fujitsu also give you the opportunity to go on a number of training courses, some are useful, others were not challenging enough. Working at Fujitsu certainly gives you a good understanding of what it is like to work in a large corporate IT firm which I would say is useful knowledge to have when trying to decide upon what career to embark on (coming from someone without any technical background, nor interest in learning the technical side).

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Good atmosphere, however lots of people regularly work from home which can mean there are some quite quiet days. The flexibility to be able to work from home on some days though can come in very handy!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I felt the year could have had more structure to it with a greater focus on providing exposure to other areas of the business.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company did invest in me to a degree, though it would have been nice to have a few more opportunities for development and some recommendations on the sort of good courses that were available,

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • You may be invited back to attend a Graduate Assessment Centre which is handy as skipping all the online tests and form filling can save a lot of time. I would certainly apply back to work for Fujitsu as overall they have been a good company to work for,

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • This would be one of my biggest complaints with the placement. The social scene was very poor, This was mainly due to the fact that the placement students were spread all around the country. Apparently in previous years the social scene was very good, I certainly wish more focus had been placed on improving this,

    1/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly reasonable

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I'm sure it would have been good if there had been a social group to enjoy it with,

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No

    1/5
