    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I really didn't enjoy my internship and reflecting back on the experience, I am amazed I didn't leave half way through. However it was eye opening and has helped me know what direction I don't want to go in life.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • It wasn't a particularly welcoming office and I think my colleagues didn't see the point in my project so I didn't feel very valued.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • My line manager was rarely present in the office and was always far to busy to offer any help or assistance. She took a 2 week holiday in the middle of my 10 weeks at the same time both other people who could have assisted me with my project were also on holiday. I found her quite cold and sharp and not very approachable to go to with any problems.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • The work could have easily been completed in 5-6 weeks. I booked lots of meetings with people which weren't really necessary to fill in time.

    • One positive of the internship was I was responsible for my project and its direction and was responsible for spending money on the design.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • Presentation skills have been useful for the last year of my degree.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • Unwelcoming, boring, uninspiring. I didn't get the impression any one loved their job or was passionate about what they were doing.

    • Above 25 days holiday

    • Definitely not for me, not cut out for the corporate world, I care far too much about things other than money and I am not passionate about the aims of the organisation.

    • Had a few nights out.
