The Role
Everyone was really friendly and down to earth which was really encouraging
It was really satisfying when you completed a piece of work and were thanked by your supervisor or could see that your contribution was lightening their workload
Everyone went out of their way to make you feel part of the team and to help if there was anything you were unsure of, there was a lot of reassurance and guidance so you didn't feel like you were on your own if thrown in at the deep end
The organisation and structure of the placement were fantastic in that you had a trainee buddy and a supervisor who always had work available for you to get involved in, so you weren't waiting around with nothing to do
The level of responsibility was amazing! From day one I was given work I'd never done before and had no knowledge of, this really encouraged me to get stuck in and give the work a go as it was an excellent way to learn.
Experiencing the life of a trainee for a week helped extensively as these are the skills I will need when I am a trainee
The Company
Walker Morris are a very sociable firm and have a very good work/life balance. They do the work to a high standard but stand out in the fact they are relaxed and friendly too!
The organisation at Walker Morris was great! We were scheduled in to do different activities which complemented each other perfectly and allowed a variety of tasks to be done and seen
The company do provide training and support throughout
Company Parties/Events
Spending the week at the firm only confirmed my desire to become a part of the team so fingers crossed!
The Culture
We were taken out by the trainees on an organised night as well as going out on our final day and it was excellent to spend time with them on a social basis
Costs were managable! It wasn't excessive!
Leeds is a very vibrant city there was lots to do!
The firm arranged a boat race for charity that vac scheme students were encouraged to take part in!
