    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Taking this placement was the best decision ever!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I grew really close to a lot of my team and colleagues in the extended business. Treated like a colleague not an intern.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Excellent support when I needed it as well as the opportunity to learn from my own mistakes. There is a very knowledgeable, supportive team for this role.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Given real responsibility from very early on. Sometimes it seemed a mile a minute but definitely benefited from working in that environment.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a tremendous amount of responsibility to the point that when I was able, I was responsible (and accountable) for the end-to-end management of activities. This was an amazing experience.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It was a big learning curve throughout the year. To begin with, I maybe didn't understand my own skill-set or abilities well enough but with the aid of training and development I am now fully equipped to move on to a graduate role. I feel as though I have come along a million miles from when I started.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great people who liked to balance working hard (winning) with a bit of banter to keep everything on a level.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Emphasis was very much on being responsible for your own development but as long as you were trying, there was the full support from the entire organisation. I feel this approach is refreshing compared to other schemes. Get out what you put in to it.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had an excellent buddy, several mentors and all the time in the world from managers throughout the organisation if I ever needed them. A lot of the training was on the job but as long as I was willing and able to learn from any mistakes quickly, my team were fully behind me.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    Healthcare from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The graduate scheme is in the early stages but the right people are supporting it and I will be one of the first batch of graduates to join next summer.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very active and varied. From comedy clubs to work socials, sports tournaments to intern parties, we had a great year. With some interns living more central to London and others living more towards Surrey, it allowed us to have the full experience of living on the edge of London.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's London so it's never going to be cheap but the office is perfectly placed to make the most of road and rail links which does make things easier. There are cheaper places nearby as well (for when pay-day is still a week away).

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Directly next to the office there isn't much but there is a free shuttle bus to the local train station and then it is 15mins to Clapham Junction or 30 to Waterloo so really cant complain.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Everyone gets their birthday off and there are regular work socials and functions throughout the year. I went to Frankfurt with the company football team for a 'World-Cup' and SAP covered all of the travel and hotels for the weekend - great company!
