    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It's been a great year. I've been responsible for a number of campaigns throughout the year and have learnt a lot along the way. I've been given the opportunity to travel to Germany and Spain whilst also attending various events in London and around the UK. Joining with nearly 30 other interns I've met some fantastic people who I'm sure I'll be in contact with long into the future.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I found that as my placement went on I was given more and more responsibilities - interns are treated very much as full time employees and this allowed for greater integration within the team. Bringing in real results in terms of pipeline for example, showed how interns are of true value to the team and this was reflected in their praise.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The marketing team have been incredibly supportive throughout the year and are always very happy to help should there be a problem. The buddy system at SAP means that new starters have a team member to go to whenever there's a problem and this 1:1 guidance eases the learning process and builds working relationships.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • When managing an end-to-end campaign, the Run Prouder Awards, I was incredibly busy in terms of hosting pitches, brainstorming with agencies, managing budgets, organising promotional activities etc. It was great to be so heavily involved in the project and to have so much responsibility, being busy made time fly by!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As already alluded to I was given a lot of responsibilities throughout the year and these increased as my skills developed. Managing large budgets is a good example of this and I was often trusted to make final decisions on what the money was spent on.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt a great deal about the corporate working environment and developed my professionalism which will be a great help when looking for a job in the future. More than anything, this year has given me huge visibility of all types of marketing, from client to agency side and has enhanced my focus on where I'd like to work upon leaving university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Not too vibrant at the moment, the influx of interns certainly helps and the situation is improving!

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very good, set up mostly by other interns so painpoints were noted and solved quickly.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a number of development days which allowed for professional growth throughout the year.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As there were so many of us we often got together over the weekend.
