    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Supporting the Production team at Campact, getting involved with projects as well as the maintenance of the Plant. This involves working with the team on engineering related tasks as well as Enviromental and Safety related tasks. Therefore, the nature of some work was organisational and other work investigative.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt and gained experience using lots of different process related software, additionally gaining lots of excel and VBA coding skills. Generally, just the experience of being on a chemical site has helped me develop knowledge and firsthand experience around the chemical industry. For organization and communication skills, this experience has expanded my skills further. Even with simple things like calling people straight after sending them an email to encourage them to reply.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Campact has a good team of different disciplines (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) so there are always lots of people to turn to, for support and guidance, whom have lots of experience and knowledge. Also, there are other placement students there from other disciplines which is a nice support network additionally. I'd say generally there's a very supportive environment built on supporting others.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Egger
  • Just get involved as much as you can, the more you put in, the more you get out. At the start it can seem like you don't have a lot to do but it takes time to learn about the process and gain knowledge about what work you can do and what you can help with. For some people the relaxed environment can unfortunately cause laziness, however if you are well driven you can get alot out of the experience.
