    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a great experience for me. I have been able to get an insight of how the electric system and the program structure of a big company works. It also has been a great opportunity to practise my English skills and to learn about the way of live and the culture of a foreign country.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I always felt very welcome and valued. I was charged with demanding tasks, but all the time someone was at hand to help me out if I was stuck or needed advise. The working atmosphere was awesome and it was always a great pleasure to get to work in the morning.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • While carrying out the tasks I was ordered to do, I was pretty much able to work independently. But as soon as something was unclear or I needed advice of any kind I was able to ask for help. This was never a problem and everybody was eager to support me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This depended very much on the day. Some days were very busy, especially if something on site wasn't working and refused to be fixed, while on other days, most things work perfectly and no maintenance was necessary. But in total, work was very balanced, I never felt stressed or bored.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was astonished at first, because many of the tasks I was given were so important and crucial for the manufacturing process. This was great, for those important tasks were way more interesting than others. So after all, a lot of responsibility was resting on me, which I had not expected.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Especially the work with the complicated software structures was important to me. I had never seen something like this before and learned how a complex production process could be controlled. In future, I will profit from this experiences a lot, and I am also eager to apply my new knowledge in school.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was very good. We always had a lot of fun while still being focused on the work. During the lunch break we often sat together and had many good conversations. The communication with my supervisors and the plant management was always relaxed and very friendly.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was organised ver well. During the first weeks I did a lot of computer and office work, mostly programming. In the last weeks I was able to see almost every part of the plant, while doing maintenance work there. The shifts between the different departments went on without any complications.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • On one hand, due to the work itself and the necessity to use a foreign language all the time, I personally did develop a lot. On the other hand, the company provided online trainings on different subjects, such as data and online security. I got some instructions on health and safety aswell.
