    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Managing the social media schedule for EGGER UK, while providing ideas and insights to improve post engagement and reach. Assisting with the creation of email marketing and landing pages for marketing campaigns such as EGGER Insights. Working with others in the marketing team to ensure the Campaign Portal is kept up-to-date and any new assets are added to the website for distributors. Developing knowledge of analytics tools such as Hotjar, Google Analytics and DataStudio to create actionable reports and provide ideas for future campaigns. Providing support to customers over the phone or email, to help them navigate any errors whilst on egger.com.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Prior to my placement at EGGER, I had existing knowledge of digital marketing practices and activities from university, but lacked the practical experience. My placement has given me the opportunity to apply this knowledge in a working environment, develop new skills and learn from others within the team and other departments. I have mainly developed skills in Digital Marketing applications - these include content management systems, email marketing platforms, Sprinklr (social media management), Google Analytics, Google DataStudio and HotJar. I have also gained knowledge in Marketing strategies, campaign planning and content creation.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have been given plenty responsibility throughout my placement with EGGER. Sufficient training and induction presentations have given me the ability to carry out tasks both independently and as part of the wider marketing team. I typically receive content and ideas from the team, but then have the freedom to create my own designs and campaign assets. This includes landing pages, e-newsletters and social media assets - provided they are within the brand guidelines. My work is often checked for approval too, which I feel has eased any pressure of sending out incorrect content.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I have received plenty of support and guidance during my placement, both from my manager and the rest of the team. I regularly have one-to-one meetings with my manager to check up on how my placement is going. This has been a great opportunity to discuss any challenges that I have faced, plan for upcoming projects and prioritise my workload. I have also been able to recognise the skills that I want to develop further and register for any additional training.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company has a close-knit and caring culture. Everyone has been very welcoming, especially as a new member of the team, and there is always someone approachable there to answer any questions that you have. The atmosphere is generally quiet in my department, but the team are always there to chat and help you out if needed. Outside of the offices, EGGER is regularly involved in sporting events, like charity runs and walks, to raise money for their chosen charities. They are valued highly by the local community and create an environment where you feel valued within the company.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I've really enjoyed my placement so far and would definitely recommend EGGER as a student employer. The team have been very supportive throughout, answering any questions and providing me with the appropriate training as required. My placement has given me a real insight into a digital marketing role, helping me to recognise what my strengths and interests are within the role. I have also been able to see which skills I want to develop further for a future in digital marketing.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Egger
  • Be prepared to learn about all aspects of the company. There'll be lots of new information to absorb at first - whether this be learning the new systems and processes for the role, or understanding the company's products and values. Don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help, as there will always be someone who has the answer. The placement will be a great opportunity for you to learn on the job, while networking with people within the industry.
