    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • We got the chance to shadow several people in the office, looking into what valuations are, how they are done and what the next step is after completing a valuation. We had the opportunity to work with people and then did an individual case study, applying the learnings from shadowing.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • While working on the tasks and projects, I have developed previous skills such as research, presentation, and communication. I have also had the chance to develop teamwork and networking skills, while I learned a lot about Excel which was very new to me.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • To start with, we were eased into the internship and given lessons on valuations. As we learned more, we were given more responsibility. For instance, I had to work on a client project and deliver a presentation to the Executives in the team which they were going to then take to a Partner. We also had to work on individual case studies to test our understanding of what we had learned over the first couple of weeks in the internship.

  • The internship has been a really enjoyable experience for me. The work was totally new so it was fun to learn about it. • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to EY
  • I think it is important to show a willingness to learn about new things. A lot of the work you do during the internship is based around things you won't learn at school/university, and you are not expected to know it either, so don't fixate on that. Ensure you know a lot about EY and why you want the specific role you apply for. For me, I felt the role and company were the right fit for me for a number of reasons, which made my interview a lot easier.
