Overview
Supporting the Business Partners and the Talent and Acquisition team. Handling absence stats and communicating that out to managers etc. Supporting the other interns during their year. Involved in both the apprentice and intern recruitment processes and interviews.
Skills
Yes I had plenty of opportunities to develop new and existing skills including time management, self confidence, organisation and my people skills in general. I learnt how to interview on my own and also learnt a lot about what it means to be in HR in a Manufacturing company.
Responsibilities
Yes I was given plenty of responsibility. It felt like having a real job rather than just classic intern jobs. I was given the opportunity to make my own decisions where possible and and also give my opinion on important cases such as disciplinaries. I was able to take training and work on important policies where my voice was heard.
Support & Guidance
I was very supported. My manager was always there when I needed it even when she was incredibly busy and checked in with me every week to make sure I was okay and had all of the support I needed.
Culture
I would say it has a very relaxed culture compared to some other companies. Hierarchy isn't incredibly important and everyone is treated equally. The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly.
Your Impressions
I loved my year at JDE. I felt like a very valued member of the team and loved everyone that I worked with.
Yes
Just be yourself, JDE care more about who you are and you attitude and ability/willingness to learn and develop than anything else.
