    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Sending requests for quotes to suppliers and working with them to answer any questions they might have. Using company systems to build purchase orders to send to suppliers who have previously provided a quote. Updating excel trackers and other systems with information gained from suppliers such as price, lead time, etc.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • The role requires the use of Excel everyday. This was a weakness for me coming in but with help from others I have been able to improve this skill. I now feel confident using the system to analyze data. I have also learnt how to manage my time effectively, ensuring I complete all work for when it is needed. This is something I will take into my final year of university.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I have been give lots of responsibility in the role. After training concluded I was made responsible for a number of parts on one of the companies programs. With this meant working with engineers, quality teams and suppliers to ensure quotes were available. I also manage multiple meeting every week with suppliers. With this level of responsibility I have felt like a valued team member who plays a part in the progression of the company.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • From day one of my placement I have had a weekly one-to-one with my manager which allows me to talk about general concerns but also gives me the opportunity to talk about career progression. Outside of my manager the rest of the team have all been really helpful. Everyone is always open to talk using the teams system and are always understanding when it comes to questions.
