  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The Operations team work to support the Sales Organization in managing deals and closing them on time. They also support with the reporting and forecasting of quarterly and yearly revenue Day to day you use Excel to analyze sales data, create data reports provide sales reps with support they may need, and use internal systems to analyse deals and their closing timelines.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, I have developed my Excel skills, and my ability / confidence to speak with people of a senior level. Oracle is also a global company so you are exposed to working with co workers from all over the world, this is great to expand your network but also to build confidence in communicating with others who may be from a different culture to yourself Naturally you build your communication skills, time management and ability to work in a corporate environment

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes to a certain extent. The more you ask for responsibility, the more you will get. Sometimes you may not have a lot of work on, but if you go out and seek it, you will definitely find something to do. With it being an entry level job, naturally you only have limited skill set and knowledge to do certain things, so things that are too complex or advanced are unlikely to be given, but its not necessarily a bad thing as you would struggle to do those things anyway. That's not to say you don't have development opportunities because there are plenty of those

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Plenty of support and guidance, weekly meeting with line manager, the placement program supervisor is always available to help with anything. You are assigned a mentor as well which is helpful

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?
  • 4/5

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company has a good culture, most people are friendly and willing to help and support you. You can come across the odd person who is not as warm, but that is not a reflection on the entire organization. The intern cohort is a great atmosphere and its nice to be with people of similar age to you going through a similar experience

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed experiencing a corporate environment. Being remote definitely impacted the experience more, I can guess it would have been more fun if we were in person for most of the year and the events and opportunities we could have attended would have been a lot more. However, overall it was a good experience, the exposure, the learning environment, the chance to make friends with people your age, and the opportunity to do things outside of your job role e.g. volunteering and extra curricular activities all contributed to a good experience

  • Please rate your level of enjoyment on your placement / internship

  • Please rate the future employment prospects at Oracle

  • 7. Would you recommend Oracle to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Oracle
  • Show your interest and eagerness for the role, know the role you are applying for in and out and evaluate whether you have the correct skillset / background / experience, be well prepared for the interviews and assessment centers, at the assessment centers be as natural as possible, its easy to try and over impress but this can come across as not genuine and they are keen to see your true self and who you are as a person.
