    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Aforementioned, initially I was given small tasks which quickly became frustrating, particularly when compared to some of the interesting projects other interns were working on. However, once I was transferred to a different function, I've been able to blossom since being given real projects of which I can see the impact of my work.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • JDE Banbury has two cultures: In the offices, the atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and extremely inclusive. The management support and strive to include you regardless of your personal circumstance. In the factory, the inclusivity is lacking and although the associates aren't malicious in their comments, you need to have thick skin to be an intern in the factory.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Loved it. At first, the issues with my internship were frustrating although these were quickly amended. The company culture is brilliant, I really feel as though the whole Packing department wants to support and develop me into a better, more competent associate! The actual Packing team has a very friendly, nurturing approach with interns which has exceeded expectations. I would happily return post-graduation.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Jacobs Douwe Egberts
  • Be yourself. The company just want you to develop and even if you don't feel competent enough or are doubting yourself, as long as you show passion for your role and the company, they will feel that through your interview! I was inspired to join because I not only love coffee, but I wanted to experience a new job role in a new environment.
