Overview
booking meetings, filling in work permits, checking and sending emails. Interacting with other interns and members of my team.
Skills
Professional skills developed mainly, such as holding a presentation and keeping the audience engaged.
Responsibilities
Some responsibility in terms of operating equipment but not much in terms of designing and carrying out the project.
Support & Guidance
Some support and guidance but had to chase it myself if I wanted it.
Culture
Company culture had a good positive message. Good charity initiatives led by students and good diversity and inclusion events and meetings.
Your Impressions
Placement did not meet my expectations in terms of my degree and what I applied for. Feel short-changed as it seems to be which projects you're given that depend what skills you use. Mine was more food science based which is not what I applied for nor wanted and couldn't change projects when I wasn't feeling challenged. I would not go back.
No
be yourself and don't go in expecting it to aid your degree, use it as an experience in the working world and make connections.
