Viewing content from development stages through to the final asset and checking for any compliance concerns. Diary management and general administrative tasks. Conducting thorough background checks into social media stars and advising whether they are a good fit with the company and flagging any compliance concerns.
I've learned lots of new skills both transferable and specific to my job role. I have improved my excel, diary and organisational skills and feel more confident as a result. In my role I have learned a lot about compliance and had a real insight into the company and the importance of my team's role.
I was initially surprised that I was given responsibility quite early on in my role, but I was provided the training and support needed to do the job well. My managers are very supportive and this gave me the confidence that I could carry out my responsibilities to the standard required. All tasks have been explained well and I have been trained thoroughly to be able to deal with my responsibilities.
I have been consistently supported throughout my internship by my managers and wider team. They have all been very encouraging and approachable. Despite their busy schedules, my managers have always made time to check in with me and make sure we are in regular contact. My team have been supportive and generous with their time and training, they are always happy to help.
The whole company has a very friendly and positive attitude which is refreshing. Due to the pandemic, there have been no opportunities to get involved in face to face activities, but the company has done a really good job of putting on lots of virtual events.
Despite the Covid pandemic making this year very different to other placement years, I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship and really don't want it to end. I have loved the job role and working with such a brilliant team. The company culture is great and given the chance I would definitely love to work at Disney in the future.
My advice would be to be friendly and inquisitive in your interview. The interviewer isn't expecting you to know everything, but showing your willingness to learn and ask questions goes a long way. Likewise when you start the role, make notes and ask questions, it's the best way to learn and people will be willing to help you if you show you're enthusiastic and want to make the most of the opportunity.
