    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role is a combination of application support and projects work. I work alongside 2 other interns and we rotate support work so it is shared equally over the weeks. Support work may involve being based on the support mailbox and dealing with incidents as they are raised in real time. Projects requires the deployments of enhancements and/or bug fixes into the application you manage as well as running sprint sessions and stakeholder meetings.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Over the course of the year my confidence in myself and also my abilities has grown. I have learnt how to use ServiceNow to raise and track incidents. I also learnt how to use Jira to effectively run sprints, create and maintain informative enhancement tickets and monitor the speed we work at using velocity reports so we can give better time estimates to stakeholders. My Microsoft skills have also improved through the daily use of outlook, excel, etc.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Over the course of the internship I was given more and more responsibility as I developed my skills and abilities. For meetings throughout the week I am expected to lead them without a manager or other member of the team in attendance. I am also trusted to liaise with internal employees outside of our team and external licensees to resolve application issues as well as resolve issues through a zoom or teams call if required.

There was also a lot of support from other members of my team and I was able to freely ask any questions as well as from the intern community at Disney.
