    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • We were valued members of the team and were given responsibility from day one. We were allowed to liase with other teams in the company as well as external licensees. We were also allowed to help with the interview process of new interns and with their training. Running reports allowed us to understand the business on a wider level which as an intern was a valuable insight.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The support was exceptional. We had a two weeks of training and detailed training notes before starting. We were never placed in a situation where we were completely unsure of what to do, and any concerns there was a supportive team we could easily ask for advice. The guidance on professional development was something I did not expect, including the Intern programme where we were able to complete modules to further develop our professional skills

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Working from home this year was made a lot easier by the team we joined. We were welcomed from the start, and invited to catch-ups (albeit virtual). The culture really stays in tune with the excitement of working for the company as the people who work for Disney really love what they do and that was reflected from the presentations we were able to see and the conversations about the work. I loved the atmosphere, and felt even though I was at home, that the Disney "magic" was still there.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • It has been a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have learnt an incredible amount both professionally and personally. I never realised I would be able to take on so much responsibility, and the company allowed me to not doubt my abilities as much. It has been a pleasure working for the team and will most certainly never forget the experience. It has been bitter-sweet not being in the office, but there are many moments I can still take away with me.

  • 7. Would you recommend The Walt Disney Company to a friend?

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to The Walt Disney Company
  • Make sure it is the work you want to do, not just the company. Whilst it is exciting to say you work for Disney, the real joy comes from the job you are doing. As a Disney fan most of my life, the real thrill I found was knowing that a contract I assisted on lead to a product which will create magic for someone else. For the interview and the application, I would say to do the research an show you are committed to the role and the direction of the company.
