    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I help with any finance-related tasks within EMEA for Motion Pictures. No day is the same here but some tasks I would regularly do is running reports for the latest GBO's and Actuals, building models to simplify our processes and working towards our major deadlines.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • The main skills I have developed are my Excel skills, my presentation skills and my ability to manage my time. The routine has been amazing for productivity and I plan to continue this. But the main skill has been my Professional skills which I have never had before, meaning I will no longer feel intimidated/out-of-place in a working environment.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes I was given a decent amount of responsibility. I have taken charge of certain files during Forecasts and at a Quarter Close which are important for the senior members of the team to save time with their own work. I have also been able to build models that track certain costs or simplifies data which will be used after I've left.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My line-managers and my team have given me a lot of support. Any time i've had a problem, they're more than happy to go through and explain something to me. If i've made errors they're never angry and always explain what went wrong. I've been given a lot of advice on how to work efficiently in my role too.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I can't imagine a better culture. Having the history and the brands we do generates a very positive and energetic atmosphere. I don't think i've met someone here who doesn't enjoy their job and everyone is more than happy to meet new people.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • For how difficult the year has been, the year has been as good as it could've been. It has been a virtual internship and I haven't met the rest of the team or many other interns. Cinema's have been closed so the tasks have also been a little quieter. I would've loved to have been able to go to the office. But it has still been really good.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to The Walt Disney Company
  • Make sure you're aware of all the brands and what role you're applying for. The first application title is very broad and you get narrowed down into individual departments/roles at the assessment centers. So know what area you want to work in and take every opportunity that is available to you while you are here.
