    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoy my placement. The company is a really good employee. I would be lucky to work here in the future. I have a great supervisor and boss and I got interesting, responsible tasks. My colleagues are very good. I really would like to stay here longer. But sadly I can't at the moment.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • We have a good relationship in our office and with the other colleagues in general. It feels more like friends than just colleagues. It is a good working atmosphere. I really like to come to the office every morning. We all are happy to have this good atmosphere and the respect of each other.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor is very good. He is interested in me and my working outcome. He give me new tasks to improve my skills. But he didn't controlled me. He left me lots of freedom to have my own ideas and get experience in the way to fix problems. I was very lucky with my supervisor.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I have enough to do but it is not like i am too busy or on a rush or anything. Perfect balance. I was totaly happy with my work. I had to do different things every day. I got a hugh insight in the work of an engineer and saw nearly every task I could do after my degree.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have a big responsibility with the control infrastructure project and all the corresponding documents I had to write, improve or verify. I was given lots of responsibilities and challenging tasks during my placement. I am totaly happy with the tasks and wasn't overload. I could handle the responsibility pretty good.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I improved my IT and Control Engineering skills a lot. I get some insights in technical documentation and the daily work basis of an engineer. I developed my skills a lot and I got good working experience in my future work live. It was the best job I could have chose.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My office is the best. I really enjoy staying in this office. We have productive talks and help each other with our given tasks. I share the office with 2 other students, so we all have the same history and the same thoughts and future. We are on one level. That's a very good thing in a foreign country to have someone to talk to.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was well planned. We got a very good Introduction week with all the new students to meet some new people. We saw the whole plant and learned about the products and customers. Especially for foreign student everything went well. They picked me up from the airport and welcomed my warmly. I am really happy to be here.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a good Induction week and general Induction but we didn't had any further courses or trainings to improve our degree skills. Everything was just to learn from a colleagues. Sadly we couldn't join any real training courses. But it is understandable because training courses are really expensive. And in case of being a real worker there the investment for the workers development is very good.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would be really happy to work in this company. I would be very lucky if they will offer me a job after my degree. I really enjoyed my time here. The company represents everything I like in a employer. The company is completly the employer I would like to have.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes there were 3 students in my own department and one more in a different deparment. We all understand each other pretty well. They are not just colleagues or other students for me. I found here some new friends for live time.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living was very good. I could live in a accomodation of the company so it wasn't very expensive for me there. The social live in the town of the company was not bad but not really good. It is a small town with just a few places to go after work or on the weekend.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was ok. There are some pubs and a club. It could be better in places like Newcastle but the way home from there is not possible so you have to accept, that it is maybe not a long nightout here. But for a small town like that it is good.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few opportunities to go to musical events or to join a raffle and there were a company open day for the whole family. They offered to join some sports events and to go to a observatory. There are lots of things to don't get bored in your free time.

    4/5
