  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support was always there and in great measures. Management eased nerves and anxiety. Weekly catch-ups really helped to reflect and raise any concerns which increased with my confidence and work and made me feel appreciated! Queries were dealt with almost instantly and e-mails were replied to promptly therefore never feeling stranded.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Workload fluctuated day-to-day dependent on deadlines, specific task/projects/productivity. However effective planning of tasks ensured that everything would get done in a timely manner. Some days would be super busy and go fast and other days very slow but the workload was manageable and fun. Never burdening or unbearable more fun and exciting.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was able to run a Research Project on my own which grew my confidence in which from the feedback recommendations were made and plans to be executed in the next academic year! I was also able to create a website for a university-wide roll out system which made me feel like a valuable member of the team and contributing to the overall Project

  • Real life context of systems development life cycle, user interface, coding, end-user and business all contributed to understanding modules better and enabled me to execute tasks better. The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Office environment was good. Everyone was super friendly and made me feel welcomed. Naturally quite a shy person this helped me to feel at ease whilst working. A good balance of conversation and silence whilst doing work. Everyone was quick to help when need be. Office environment was good and helped with overall people skills.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was set up within a department with endless projects going on. A placement student could go in and make the placement exactly what they wanted it. Having the ability to say what i enjoyed and then having projects from that was a privileged and my manager was so great for that! loved it

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was able to partake in any of the staff workshops as well as be apart of university events such as graduation, clearing and enrollment in which all training was provided. If i ever needed any further insight or help i was able to contact relevant people / departments which would give me further insight / training

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Being able to witness and have meeting with different people from different departments of the university helped me to plan what i would like to do in the future and gave me future career prospects whether that m=be in a more IT based role or more generic project work role.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I knew a few placement students and the atmosphere amongst them was great! Being in the same situation as them helped us to get along and i made some really friends in which we are still in contact with. Would liked to have met some more placement students but was more of my own fault as i am naturally quite shy.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The university is centered just a little out of the town center. Everything is easily available but a little expensive. Socialising was too bad.Student offers were widely available and using apps such as UNIDAYS were a life saver! Planning really helps and budgeting your money will ensure you have enough at the end!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Was not apart of the night life as this is not my scene.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not particularly for staff (i don't think) however still being a student you are able to go to student centered events in societies etc. which there was allot of. Many societies had things going on every Wednesday and every other days ensured that something was there for everyone and something that you could enjoy!
