    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This placement year at SAP opened up the door to so many varied opportunities. My role was really reactive, which was such a positive thing as it meant that I was never doing the same thing all the time. I have built a wide network within the company and gained many soft skills that cannot be learnt at university. All in all I have enjoyed my placement year.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have felt like an integral part of the team everyday and have been trusted with a lot of responsibility, for example organising company wide events.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My team were really encouraging and helpful when needed, however at times due to their busy schedules a number of catch-up meetings were cancelled.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Being that my role was reactive, you could never determine how much work you would have in a day, however most of the year was pretty busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A huge amount of responsibility in many different areas. I was involved with organising company wide events, travelled to Barcelona to assist our MD at one of the our massive conference. I was also involved in organising customer and executive meetings/visits.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Many of the skills you learn while on placement year are soft skills, which will be a nice balance for when I return to university, as you don't tend to get that much exposure at university.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • At time is can be quite empty, especially on a Friday. However, it is a really nice atmosphere in general. Everyone is so friendly and the intern community really bring a buzz.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • When I started it, it wasn't as established as it could have been. The process had remained the same from previous years, even though the requirement had changed. It wasn't as engaging at the beginning, however during the year, feedback has been given and the program has improved significantly.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The personal training and development could be improved, as there haven't been many opportunities to attend development sessions or specific courses for placement students.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • At the moment, there are not that many opportunities to re-enter the business as a graduate, however that is an area that is being worked on. Nevertheless, if there were to opportunities to return, I would love the chance come back to SAP.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The intern community has to be one of the highlights from the placement. There is a sense of being and you truly make friends for life. There have been many socials during the year, giving everyone a chance to socialise and network.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Depending on the area you live in the cost can vary a lot, ranging from £400 - £800. However, the closer you are to the Feltham office, the cheaper it tends to be, as it is on the outskirts of London.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Feltham doesn't have a nightlife, however there are many hotspots close by such as Twickenham, Richmond, Clapham and Waterloo.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • N/A

    3/5
