About You
The insight was a great experience. We were given hour-long presentations every morning about each practice and what type of work they did. We were taught about the role of the trainee and what to expect during a seat. All employees were more than willing to provide insight into the firm and answer any questions.
I felt really valued during my time at the firm. From the first day, I was given real work and a chance to really understand how the department worked. The open-door policy made it easy to talk with partners and they were very helpful in explaining the bigger picture. We were always thanked for the work we produced.
We were given a lot of guidance throughout the two weeks. Anytime we had a question or needed clarification, my supervisor took the time to sit down and explain through everything. My supervisor regularly checked in on me to make sure I was ok and had enough work to do. The support really made me feel valued and that I was actually contributing.
The skills I developed will really assist me in my future studies. The experience allowed me to see how academic law was applied in a practical way. The skills I learnt will help me when studying the LPC. I was taught about how the firm provides legal solutions to the client's commercial problems which will assist me in my future studies.
The Company
The vacation scheme was really well structured. Each morning started off with a one-hour presentation from each department which was really useful in learning about each of the firm's practices. We were given a good mix of fictional tasks to complete with real-life work so were constantly busy. The social events were also a great way of getting to know people at the firm in a more relaxed environment.
The general atmosphere was very positive. Everyone I met was upbeat and energetic. I regularly heard people laughing in the hallways and the firm clearly had a collegiate spirit. Everyone I talked to made the time to sit down and answer any questions I had. Everyone was very chatty and friendly.
