    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I found the insight day very enjoyable, and it was a great chance to see what the culture of the firm is like on a day to day basis. I was based in the construction department and got involved in a variety of both contentious and non-contentious work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone I interacted with at the firm at all all levels was extremely friendly and welcoming. I was given the opportunity to get involved with ongoing work and even got the chance the meet with some clients.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The guidance and support was excellent. I was provided with detailed feedback on every task I completed. The firm has an open-door policy and people at all levels were very approachable and welcomed and questions I had.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Having just completed the GDL, it was very useful to get involved in drafting various documents. These skills will no doubt be of use on the LPC and in my future career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The week was very well structured, with a mix of departmental work and some more formal assessments. The trainees also organised various social events throughout the week for the vac schemers which were a lot of fun.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere at the firm was extremely friendly. Everybody I spoke to said the thing they liked most about the firm was the people, and everything I saw backed this up

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Speaking to trainees at the firm, it puts a great deal of emphasis on the training and professional development of its staff. The firm provides mentors and will encourage and nurture talent where it recognises it.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Due to the variety of work I was involved in, I got a good feel for what life at the firm would be like. Obviously I only experienced one department, but, as the vac scheme was only a week, it would have been impractical to experience any more.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I got a good deal of exposure to people at all levels of the firm and the open and approachable culture. From what I gathered departments can vary slightly in culture, however I would not view variety as a negative. In the construction department the atmosphere was certainly very friendly.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The week definitely confirmed my desire to become a lawyer, and to pursue a career at Walker Morris in particular.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • £175 for the week.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, as mentioned above there were various social events organised for the vac schemers to meet employees in a less formal environment.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social events were very fun and enjoyable - the firm provided free food and drinks too, which a bonus!

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The trainees often socialise together, and get involved in a great deal of CSR activities outside of work, something the firm very much encourages.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, definitely
