The placement has a mixture of both assessment exercises and time within a department. The range of activities and work given was very engaging and provided for a varied and enjoyable week.

The supervisors and departments were all very welcoming and provided me with numerous tasks to do. My work was used to adapt documents that were sent off to clients, demonstrating to me that I was valued.

During the insight I had a supervisor and a trainee contact within my department. Both were extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions I had. The rest of the department and HR also provided vital support.

The insight has allowed me to conduct research more efficiently which will aid me in my undergraduate degree and my future career as a solicitor. As well as this, the experience has taught me how to draft legal documents and understand how the profession works in practice.

At the beginning of the week we were provided with a timetable and this was followed throughout my week at the firm, demonstrating that it was well structured.

The firm had an extremely friendly atmosphere. They had an open door policy meaning I could go and speak to partners or trainees whenever I needed to. It also allowed me to meet a large number of people at the firm.

During my week I attended one training session on legal privileges, that was designed for trainees. We were also given library training at the start of the week, so that we could conduct our research to a high standard.

We had a question and answer session with the first and second year trainees at the firm. Alongside this we had a social night with the trainees and graduate partners.

During the question and answer session I discovered that there are lots of opportunities with the firm, including many charity events which anyone can get involved in.
