The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Bechtel, I did not know what to expect going in and was pleasantly surprised by the breadth of tasks I was set and responsibilities I was given.
I truly felt that my work was going to be beneficial to the company.
I was given a work plan and a set of personal goals within my first few days. I also had regular check ins with my supervisor. In addition every task I was set was explained in detail with clear direction.
Some days were very busy and some a slower pace but I was never left without a task or looking for work.
I was given a lot of responsibility over plenty of different work streams
To a large extent - I had the opportunity to develop my professional skills e.g. public speaking, networking, communication style and my personal skills e.g. excel and other data analysis programs.
The Company
I worked closely/ in the same building as other interns and I think this added a lot to the atmosphere around me in the office.
More information could be given on the start date earlier on in the summer.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I would definitely love to work for Bechtel in the future.
The Culture
I spent a lot of time outside of work with the other interns. One of my favorite parts about the internship was meeting new people.
I lived at home and socializing was usually done at a cheap place.
I was working in London so the nightlife was very good.
NextGen events such as softball and Ascot were available and had a great turnout.
