The Role
Even though I worked my summer away I had the best time! There were so many opportunities and activities to get involved with. There was always something to be getting on with and it was all really interesting topics!
Everyone was very accepting and welcoming at first. I found it difficult to introduce myself in meetings at first but now I am very confident with that. You have the whole company only an email away and so if you need help with something or you have an idea everyone is very open to speak to!
My supervisor was very kind to me, it made it an easy working environment where I didn't feel stupid if I had a question, and I never felt he didn't have time for me. We worked in the same office and so it was easy to ask for guidance.
I always had something to do/be getting on with. There was also site visits and other activities that I got involved with. I felt a little bit of pressure to deliver on time but this is more down to my time management I believe.
Quite a lot. I took over two projects from the person in my team (they had to work on site). By the end I was setting up meetings and organising events. I had a few reports to write and other deliverables, but they were well spaced.
My placement wasn't directly related to my degree. But getting familiar with work systems and even the acronyms was very helpful. I learned office skills, networking skills, time management skills, computer software program skills and technical knowledge about the industry and the company.
