About You
I really enjoyed the vacation scheme. It provided the opportunity to explore sectors I was interested in and to really enhance the skills I was taught in my law degree. There was also several networking opportunities with employees from all levels of the firm, which really enabled me to see what the firm is really like.
Everybody I met at the firm made me feel very welcome. In particular, each student was assigned a vacation scheme buddy who quickly ensured that you felt a valued part of the team and was very helpful throughout the scheme.
The trainees were absolutely fantastic in providing guidance and support throughout the vacation scheme and they offered help on any issues. Graduate recruitment also ensured we were supported throughout the scheme and ensured that every vacation scheme student spent some time in at least one practice group area that they requested.
I had recently completed a research project for my GDL on an issue that Squire Patton Boggs were holding a seminar on in my second week. I was therefore invited along to the event, which was a highly informative and a fantastic experience. I was also given the chance to improve my research skills and I was provided with interesting and challenging work.
The Company
The vacation scheme was very well structured. We all received timetables at the beginning of the week with various events. We were also provided with a talk each morning by a solicitor from each practice group.
Everyone was friendly and the scheme certainly felt like a two-way process of getting to know the firm and for them to get to know you.
The firm gave me the opportunity to get involved in interesting cases to aid my development. I was also given the opportunity to write a piece for their employment blog.
The insight enabled me to see first-hand the hours and work that the lawyers at Squire Patton Boggs do. I was also given plenty of opportunities to network with other lawyers and ask them about their experiences at the firm.
I saw first-hand the company culture, and I was exceptionally impressed by the supportive nature of it.
We were provided with daily talks from different practice areas, which was very helpful and made me consider alternative practice areas that I had not considered previously.
Everything Else
I was paid for the vacation scheme.
There were many opportunities to network with employees from various levels and areas of the firm.
The networking and social events were very enjoyable and varied. We had dim sum making with the trainees, which was a great environment to get to know them and learn more about their experiences.
The networking opportunities provided us with the opportunities to ask lawyers at all levels of the firm about the activities the firm provides outside of work.
Yes, it was highly enjoyable and informative.
