About You
The best vacation scheme I have been on. I felt welcomed by everyone at the firm, received really useful feedback on my output and contributed genuine work to ongoing matters. Very well-organised.
I felt like my opinions and questions were valued. People took the time to explain things to me in huge detail and take my questions, including partners and senior associates whose time is hugely appreciated.
As above, I never felt lost or confused as to what my role was in either department.
Hugely. I learnt more about what certain types of lawyers, particularly those in disputes resolution, do on a daily and matter-by-matter basis than ever before. It makes a huge difference to learn about something from an expert in the area to reading about something. This will hopefully serve me well in my career.
The Company
A great balance of work, social activities and workshops. A good blueprint that seems to work well for everyone. The assessments were tough but didn't hang over the whole fortnight - as long as you were organised, there were no issues!
Definitely not oppressive. I never felt like an unwanted guest - everyone seemed keen to engage with us on the vac scheme.
I thought the training was pretty good for a two week scheme.
I was working on tasks that full time employees of the firm work on every day, so I received a very good insight into this.
Office culture was pretty homogenous across the two departments I was in. I felt at home and became more and more relaxed as the scheme progressed, showing how accessible the office culture is.
It reasserted the fact that I want to be a commercial solicitor immeasurably, which is a good sign.
Everything Else
No issues here - a generously remunerated placement scheme.
Several opportunities - but not too many to the point where it felt obstructive to our work deadlines and daily routines! People across the firm actually showed up which is great.
A good range - darts and dim sum making were original ideas executed very well. More regular networking events were also a good chance to chat to partners and associates in a relaxed environment.
I was invited to join in with the football team twice, and i also attended a pro bono debating session with a local primary school.
As I said, it was the best scheme of its type that I have been on. A great firm that is really on the rise internationally!
