The Role
I have loved very moment and i have gained invaluable knowledge that i wouldnt have been able to know within a smaller company or for a shorter amount of time
I am very close to everyone on my team and have never been made to feel like i am inadequate or of low value.
My manager Beth Parker was honestly so supportive but more than that she challenged me and made me feel valued within the team. She is a God send.
it often fluctuates... if there is a conference or a festival then leading up and after the festival i would be extremely busy, however during the festival it would be VERY quiet. Additionally, whenever i would take holiday or on the odd occasion i would call in sick, i would be very busy catching up on my return
this internship is very much more like a entry level job - more like a co-ordinator. my superiors on my team would very often ask me questions on the production and i was responsible for the daily to do list and content. When i went on holiday i came back to "Thank God you're back" "This place falls apart without you"
besides all of the really important information and skill i picked up in my own department i was given so many opportunities to explore other areas e.g. creative, legal and casting. I will use all of these skills that i have gained for years to come, of that i am sure.
The Company
There is always a general buzz of business in the office but there are also a lot of social and relaxed conversations, it doesn't feel high pressure or anything. Both teams in the area i am in get on really well and we are all able to joke and laugh when the time is applicable.
When i first joined it all ran smoothly. I was VERY lucky to have a 2 week handover from the previous intern and so it wasn't rushed. The desk location and support have all been perfect along with the job itself being easily defined and achievable.
The company is consistently sending out opportunities to explore areas of learning in the business, including mentoring and shadowing. The team are always supportive to extend my experience by letting me attend castings, voice records etc even though it doesn't tie into my role.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Travel loan
If there is a job going when i finish university then i can apply and have a better chance of getting the role! However, it is all about timing... if the job isn't there they can't just create one!
The Culture
there is always something going on. Every Friday there are drinks and often we do outings without cause so it has been a really social experience in my team and with the other interns.
Its London so the drinks weren't cheap but i lived at home so i cannot comment on living costs.
There wasn't much nightlife apart from the pubs but we have been out in Soho where there is lots to do and places to go!
There have been loads of opportunities, for instance i will be part of the London Pride Parade 2017 along with the company. There are also endless volunteer chances and so many things to get involved in! not to mention the cinema in the office!
