2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

The small team sizes make each intern feel like a real memeber of the team! In my placement year, one of our team members moved teams leaving me to take on more challenging and higher importance roles.

10/10

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

The negatives of having small teams in such a big business is that many member are way too busy to help as much as you need them too. however my manager always found time to help me when I needed it most.

7/10

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

VERY. as mentioned above, we lost a memeber of my team so the workload was much higher than normal. The role I was in did not feel like an intern role as I was trusted with much work.

4/10

5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

I was given and treated like a full time analyist! (Sadly not paid the same) The Analysis in our team left and i had to pick up some of the tasks.

8/10

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

The softskills I learned and developed are invaluable. You never get taught how to work in a day to day life untill you actually do it! the training on the systems was very helpful however each business uses different systems so it will become almost pointless unless I work the same role. Sadly it was unrelated to my Mathematics course.

The Organisation

7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

With Disney products covering the wall and a with everyone being so friendly the atmosphere is amazing. Being able to decorate your desk to really make you feel at home. Not to forget the photo opportunities when famous characters came into the office to take pictures with and celebrate with.

10/10

8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

With something like 200 intern starting every year in the Hammersmith office the placement start had to be set up well. There was many induction talks and even an introduction to disney day where they got people for all over the business to talk about the work they do. the only negative is that the access to the systems had to be applied for when you are actually working. so access took up to a month before we recieved it.

8/10

9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

In terms of the business, they do very little for the interns. They hold training sessions and talks for the whole business but for the interns enrichment there is very little. Many memebers of staff do put alot of time into interns making sure they get the best out of the year and teach them as they would a new full time memeber of staff.

5/10

10. What were the perks on your work placement?

  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop
  • Travel loan
5/10

11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

No talk of any graduate scheme. The chance of getting a future job purely dependant on if there is a job opportunity/ gap in the team. However every memeber of my team and teams around me were all interns at some point so there is hope of a future role in Disney.

2/10

Social

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

The dream social scene! The amount of interns in the business really helps the social life. Being in the West side of London means that trips to the centre of London take 15 mins! This means if you want to do anything you probably can! In my time in london I have seen multiple plays, escape rooms, bowling every other week, junkyard golf and enough meals to feed a small country!

10/10

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

Be prepared to not save any money... the wage is enough to live and socialise just about. leaving in the west side of London means that well over half of your wage goes straight to rent. Living in one of the best cities in the world does come at a cost. me and fellow interns took this year as an experience and didn't plan on saving any money so we could go and do fun things. for example me and 4 other interns went to Paris to see the city and visit Disneyland!

3/10

14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

Again, don't expect to go out much as it is very very very expensive. unless you have discovered the art of getting free drinks (Which i havent) you are in for a nasty suprise. the nightlife in London is amazing but with the pricetag it comes with you can only expect to go out properly a few times in the year.

2/10

15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

From Singing to football and yoga to cricket we have many activities out of work. all are self funded however. Disney has a very strong Volunteering team. we participate in charity events and do stuff like painting homes and cleaning the rivers to help the surrounding areas . More than enough things to keep you active and busy.
