    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed working there as I learnt a lot about how does the Market Research team of a company focused on offering language services works while carrying out many different tasks (QA checks, managing projects, taking care of recruitment, etc.).

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone in the company was really friendly and they all had many qualities to learn from. The general atmosphere in Language Connect was very nice and with plenty of hard-working people with whom you would be able to have nice chats and breaks and would be always willing to help if you had any questions or needed support.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whenever I had any doubts I knew I could ask any of my colleagues and they would kindly help me out. My mentors were also of great help and gave me tips about how to carry tasks and always answered any questions I could have.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was always plenty to do in Language Connect and there would be the odd day that was a bit more relaxed, but you would never get bored. I personally love being busy and the excitement of having to do so many different tasks on a daily basis was something I really enjoyed.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair amount of responsability that increased towards the end of my placement, which I enjoyed a lot ( for instance, managing projects from the quoting stage to the delivery).

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • it has been really useful in order to get to know how to work in a company offering language services so now I feel far more confident regarding communication with clients and linguists. It has also helped seeing what did they expect from linguists and learning more about different CAT tools and resources. It has definitely being of great help for my career and I would recommend this internship to hard-working, nice graduates with a good proactive attitude since they will enjoy it very much and find it as rewarding as I did.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very nice atmosphere with lovely and easy-going people that at the same time worked very hard and were a great example. Also, there is a lot of support from the other interns.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was organised well.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company offered several training sessions that I went to and which were very useful. Also, all the people in the office would share any knowledge they thought might be useful for you and everyone was very supportive, from every team in Language Connect.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They had a couple of positions open for interns to apply for and they usually work with strong people. I decided that for now it would be better for my career to work as a freelancer for them and they gladly welcomed me and supported my decision.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Interns would be very supportive of each other and we would go every now and then all together for dinner or lunch. Again, everyone was really nice in Language Connect.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London isn't the cheapest city, as we all know. But with this paid internship you could afford living generally.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a few pubs, all very nice. Sometimes people would go there and have a few drinks and a nice chat.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few events.

    4/5
