The summer scheme at RPC was highly organised and ran seamlessly over the two week period. All employees at the firm, including trainees and partners alike, were very open to questions and willing to have a conversation with you, a hugely friendly environment. The work we were provided with to carry out during the scheme really ensured you felt like you were actually contributing to the departments and an asset to them during your time!
I really enjoyed the two weeks. I managed to experience a wide variety of tasks, from redacting documents and amending SPAs, to getting the change to draft an engagement letter and coverage opinion. So I was challenged. However, I think the experience could have benefitted from more socials or talks in order to break up the week. Though it allowed us a lot of time in the departments, I bonded less with the trainees and fellow vac schemers.
I really enjoyed the Vacation Scheme. Everyone was very friendly and made you feel very welcome, and there wasn't any sense of hierarchy within the firm, meaning you felt you could talk to anyone. I was put into two different departments (1 week in each) and was given a range of varied work in both departments including a trip to court. The socials were really fun, and very well organised.
It was a very well-run programme at an incredibly welcoming firm. Trainees, associates and partners were all friendly and did their best to ensure we achieved the most from the Summer Scheme. The work I was asked to contribute towards felt authentic and I could tell that it would be of benefit to the departments. Every person I spoke to at the firm was friendly and provided a candid insight into how the firm looked like from the inside.
The Insight was very enjoyable on the whole, offering a large amount of diverse activities in which you could get involved. At times the seats were rather quiet which meant there was not a huge amount of work but there was most often a good amount to be getting on with.
I really enjoyed the placement and finished with a strong sense of accomplishment. From the first day of the programme I felt like a valued member of team who people were willing to take time with and invest in. I particularly enjoyed getting involved with the work that the lawyers were actually working on. This involved meetings out of the office and calls with clients.
Really enjoyed it. A lot of time was spent in departments which meant that I received great exposure to the kind of work that I would be doing if I was to work here. There were also a good number of socials to enable students to interact with employees to get a better feel for the firm in a relaxed environment. Furthermore, the regular feedback and reflection sessions helped me develop over my two weeks.
I really enjoyed the vac scheme to a very large extent. This is because I felt as though everyone was really trying to give me interesting work that actually reflects the work I would be doing if I were to train there, and was actually relevant to what was going on within the teams at the time.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a real insight into working at a city firm and more specifically at RPC. There were constant events to give you as much information as possible, from speed networking to a trip to Lloyd's of London. The social events were also great - getting out of the escape room as the fastest team was a highlight!
The vacation scheme was amazing. The socials that were organised were delightful and helped us get to know the other vacation schemers better as well as extend our network within the firm. The work was of a high level and is a testament to the trust that the firm places in its employees.
