Summer Vacation Scheme Review

Had regular virtual coffees with people at the firm and a daily catch-up with my supervisor. Completed tasks for deadlines on specific days and took part in a number of extra activities including group projects and workshops on commercial and insurance law. In the evenings there were social opportunities including virtual escape rooms and drinks.

During my time on the scheme I was able to develop my teamwork skills when completing the group exercise, I was also able to develop resilience in relation to the work I was completing as sometimes the days were long and some pieces of work were harder than others. Finally, I developed communication skills as I was able to speak to a lot of different people.

It was really beneficial to learn about the business and the potential roles available. I was able to learn about the specific jobs that trainees do in a number of different seats and what the day to day workload is like.

The culture was so inclusive, people at all levels were always willing to meet with me and give me an insight into their role and how they view the firm's culture. During the culture project, I learnt how collaborative and forward-thinking the firm was and how it strives to continue making its culture better by being more inclusive.

I thoroughly enjoyed the insight, I could not fault the scheme in any way. I felt that I was able to learn so much about the firm and its culture as well as the work that they do. In addition, there was a number of great social events that facilitated developing relationships with my peers.

Research into the firm as much as you can and reach out to people at the firm, everyone is genuinely willing to talk to you and share their insights. Always try and give everything you can into your time at RPC and throw yourself into all activities if you can fit them in.
