The virtual experience was extremely enjoyable and well thought through. The week consisted of a combination of written tasks, insight sessions into different areas of the firm and social & networking activities. The tasks were interesting as they involved a variety of different stakeholders and there was a combination of contentious and non-contentious work. They also gave me great insight into the type of work undertaken by trainees at the firm. I really enjoyed the quiz the trainees hosted - gave us a real insight into the culture at the firm at a time when we were unable to be at the office.
The virtual experience was a fantastic insight into life at the firm. Whilst it was unfortunate that the scheme had to be conducted online, the effort that had been put into the scheme was clear. There were plenty of evening activities to ensure all attendees met each other and current trainees. The only downside were a few technical issues with the vacation scheme site which led to delays in receiving messages. Everyone at RPC was quick to respond to emails however meaning that these delays weren't too much of an issue.
The virtual Summer Scheme ran very smoothly. Lasting 4 days, it gave me a good insight into the type of work that I would be involved in at RPC. I met the GL&M team virtually and it was easy to meet and get to know them, even though the scheme was not in person.
I very much enjoyed the insight in terms of my exposure to a commercial lawyer's work. I felt that my understanding of the role was vastly improved after having completed the vacation scheme. However, I think that the insight would have been even more enjoyable had we been able to experience a number of practice areas as originally planned. Although I enjoyed my particular seat, it was still somewhat disappointing to not experience some of the seats at the firm which had particularly drawn me toward RPC.
RPC's summer scheme was a truly enjoyable experience. Both the work and the people at RPC are exceptional and you can sense that RPC has a different work environment to any other law firm. People here really value the insight of others and they make you feel welcomed from the get-go.
I had a fantastic time at RPC! Although the scheme was virtual and shortened from 2 weeks to 4 days, the firm put a lot of effort into ensuring that we had as positive an experience as possible. The work we were given was challenging but interesting and representative of trainee leve tasks. We had two evening networking sessions, one with trainees and one with lawyers from different teams. We were also able to participate in extra activities including a blog writing competition, producing content for their Instagram and a yoga session.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at RPC, from the networking opportunities to working on real day-to-day tasks. I also enjoyed meeting my team and having informal conversations with them. The culture at RPC is very critical to the firm and that is definitely reflected in its lawyers. I also enjoyed my first virtual trivia night with fellow RPC trainees, which was a great opportunity to forge connections with my peers and also learn random facts.
I really enjoyed the vacation scheme. I had a lovely time and we were well taken care of. It was informative, fun and interesting. I was able to speed network, take part in legal exercises and get to know my cohort. We also completed a virtual quiz! The exercises were challenging yet at the right level for my education.
This was one of, if not the best insight day I have been to by far. I visited over six City firm this past year and RPC established themselves as a very personable firm. Every employee made us feel welcome and demonstrated that they were happy to give their time to us.
The team were really successful in making the insight day fun and interactive and gave us ample space to network with fellow attendees and learn more about what their firm do and how they fit in the industry. We were also able to speak to trainees which was very useful.
This was a very informative and helpful insight event. We got to learn about the different practices the firm is involved in and the importance of insurance law in the legal world. Everyone was really helpful and pleasant to talk to, sharing their stories and guidance as to how to make it in the field of commercial law.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at RPC. From day one you are made to feel welcome and integrated into the firm. I feel I was engaged in real work that was valued by fee earners, rather than work created specifically for me to do to fill my time. I was able to attend client meetings and also court hearings. This experience was invaluable and it was extremely rewarding contributing to the firms success in the short period of time.
