I spent the year working with a very supportive and innovative team. I was eased into my role and soon found that I had my own responsibilities that really made a difference to the company. My day job was supplemented by placement/graduate activities which broadened the scope of my experience and allowed me to get involved in a breadth of activities.
This placement was a fantastic opportunity which allowed me to develop so many skills in terms of business and project management. I was able to undertake such a wide and varied range of activities and network with many high level managers during my time at Network Rail.
I was encouraged to prioritise the development of my skills throughout my placement and was given a lot of responsibility as soon as I joined to develop me further. There were many opportunities presented to me to develop myself and I was encouraged to regularly review my future plans with my line manager.
