I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Amadeus. It is difficult to give an overall opinion since COVID 19 caused disruption and issues towards the end of the year. Luckily, I worked on a completely knew project and saw it go from idea to pre-production while I was there. The projects are largely very interesting and enable interns to experience many different areas of development and of the company. It is also worth noting that Amadeus offer several events and occasions such as Graduate & Intern socials all throughout the year which were great fun.
Working at Amadeus was very enjoyable, the working environment was comfortable and the day to day work was captivating. Also, the opportunities that are provided to you are extremely rewarding. Whilst I was employed there (June 2015 - June 2016) I took part in multiple days out, work gatherings and, most rewarding of all, raising money for charity with 20 others by running a Tough Mudder in April. Working at Amadeus is more than Monday to Friday, there is real opportunity to challenge and enjoy yourself. The only negative I can think of is the location, being near an airport means there is little in the way of place to go on breaks.
Amadeus was a great experience for me as I discovered the world of B2B marketing and IT. I was given important tasks and managed online communities to improve information. I was placed in a very interesting department and got along very well with my colleagues. I hope to work there again in the future.
The work I was given was very varied and I did not have to do the same routine tasks every day. I was given responsibility from early on which made me feel more valued by the team. I also built up good relationships with my boss and the rest of the rail team and really enjoyed working the people in my office.
As a non-French speaker it was a leap to go abroad for a placement (albeit in an English-speaking company). I found a great community of English "stagiaires" (students). Settling in was good and Amadeus provided some help into finding a place to live (they put you up in a hotel for a whole month for free). Being so close to places like Nice, Cannes, Monaco and Italy meant that weekends weren't ever spent infront of the Xbox or TV, instead we went sunbathing in summer and snowboarding/skiing in winter!
I enjoyed working there but sometimes there's not much to do so i use to get bored. it was not as challenging as i thought it would be. that is just my position others might be different. When i feel like i do not have much to do i work on my teams sharepoint by doing some online training.
