    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The environment, the people, the work, it was all incredible! I was part of a team of 5 interns, and I am sure I speak for all of us that it was a very sad they when our internship finished.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • CLV is a family. People go out for drinks together, we never have lunch stressed in front of the computer unless something needs to be done ASAP and everybody lands a hand when you need one. I was constantly reminded that I was doing a great job, which made me feel very valued.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was blessed with 2 mentors instead of one. One was my line manager, who helped me in terms of IT issues and direction, while the other helped with my personal confidence and improving my working style. I am extremely grateful to both, because they've not only given me guidance when I needed it, they thought me something new everyday.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were days when it was a bit hectic and quieter days, like in any workplace.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • On my first day, I have been given a project and I had to run with it. People trusted me to do a good job from day one, which made me learn even more.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I honestly believe that what I learned at CLV is more than I ever learnt in university. And I was paid to learn instead of paying to learn! My line manager was always there if I needed help and has thought me so much about analytics, it is invaluable.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Every morning people offered to make the first run of tea/coffee, we went to lunch together, people run around the office for help and got it, we were all part of a family.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We had a mentor which organised the internship for all of us. We knew what to expect, when we're starting and everything else. Anything can be improved, and I am sure they learnt as much as us from this experience.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had 2 days training prior to our starting day, and one of the employees gave their Saturday away for us to make sure we are ready. I think the time my manager has put in to teach me the things I know today is also very valuable.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • As I mentioned before, we were all really sad the day we had to leave. However, we all feel that we made great friends there so I would always apply to another job within the organisation, especially in the Market and Risk Department.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Personally, I couldn't care less about any social scene, but yes, people didn't hesitate to go for drinks for time to time, and whenever someone was leaving, that was a time to get together and spend some time in the team.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Although it is in Salford Quays, everything was as affordable as it gets. We had Subway 5 minutes away, a shop downstairs with quite cheap coffee and sanwhiches, but good quality.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There is no nightlife in Salford, unless you want to put yourself in danger, but I don't think this would have anything to do with the workplace. Anyone can go to Manchester for a better nightlife if they wish and no one in CLV would stop it.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • CLV Communities promotes charity work and health related activities.

    4/5
