The Role
I genuinely enjoyed my time at Campus Living Villages. I was lucky enough to work with a fantastic group of interns; some of which I am still in contact with. I thoroughly enjoyed my 8 weeks at Campus Living Villages and enjoyed the insight into the student accommodation sector.
I did not communicate with many colleagues in a professional capacity, however I believe this was due to the role. There is a feeling in the office that everyone is genuinely helpful and friendly, and will offer you any guidance or information if required. When liaising with staff from the villages, I was not treated like an intern, but a regular employee, which was a great feeling in comparison to other internships that I have done.
I felt very supported by the Corporate Responsibilities and Communities Manager, who coached all of the interns during our time at Campus Living Villages. He was approachable, and really cared about the intern's wellbeing and experience during their internships. He also took an interest in our development, setting aside time with us each week to discuss our experiences.
This varied from day to day. On some days I was busy (which I really enjoyed), and on other days I didn't have much to do.
Considering I was only an intern, I was given a significant amount of responsibility, and was able to undertake processes alone. I was trusted to complete a Request for Proposal and a tendering process during my 8-weeks at Campus Living Villages, as well as analysing high volumes of data from the villages.
Now that I am applying for graduate schemes, the value of my time at Campus Living Villages in evident. I have proven experience in a specific business area, as well as experience in managing my own work and ensuring the timely delivery of any work expected. Working at Campus Living Villages also gave me the confidence in myself to pursue graduate jobs with tenacity, and has given me a better idea of the culture and environment that I would like to work in in the future.
The Company
The general atmosphere was quite relaxed, and everyone in the office was extremely approachable.
