The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. I was given responsibility from day one, and was given the opportunity to get involved with many interesting projects throughout year. Although I was given a lot of responsibility, management of all levels were happy to help wherever I had questions.
Due to the responsibility I was given, I felt very valued by my employees. I could see how the projects I managed helped the team overall, and I liked being the go-to person for any questions on the projects I managed. As the only intern on my team, I was welcomed in really quickly.
I had weekly catch ups with my manager to review my progress and for me to ask any questions. However, managers and members of the team were always more than happy to answer questions, not just questions directly relating to the work I was doing but also questions to widen my knowledge of the business.
I was very busy on a daily basis with a challenging work load, however there was always help on offer, and if my work load ever became too much my manager would help me to deal with this straight away.I really liked the balance of constant monitoring of my large work load so it was never too much, but equally I was constantly challenged and never once bored at work.
I was given responsibility from day 1 in my placement. I managed projects and towards the end of my placement was completely trusted with the running of these. I gained extra responsibility throughout my placement, as I became more and more trusted with my work load.
My placement really helped me understand the processes in a business. This is something that will be useful to me in my degree, but also extremely useful in work after university. My placement also improved my work/life balance, and this is something I will take into my final year at university.
The Company
There was a great sense of team spirit in the office, with everyone working as a team to achieve results but also offering a lot of praise for individual achievements. It was a very motivating atmosphere as you wanted to help the team and contribute to great results as much as possible. It was a fun atmosphere but also a place you could concentrate on work, with a lot of fun activities outside of the office too.
The placement scheme was well organised, with a well organised path to apply for the graduate management trainee scheme. HR arranged helpful training days and catch ups throughout year, and were also very approachable for any questions I had between these times.
I feel the company really invested in my development. Formal reviews throughout the year allowed me to track my development with my manager, and for us to discuss key areas for further development. Management invested time in teaching me their knowledge of the running of the business, what they taught me was invaluable.

I have been offered a place not the graduate scheme and was thrilled to accept it. I really enjoyed my placement year and it's great to go back to my final year at university knowing I have an offer of a job I love to go back to after.
The Culture
We had a placement committee who would arrange social events, sport events and send round a newsletter. We had time in work to meet other interns for coffee, allowing us to speak to interns in other areas of the business. We also had intern activities arranged outside of work which was a great way to make friends in London and get to know each other. HR also arranged a sports day towards the end of our internship, this allowed us to speak to the new intake of interns, and share valuable aspects of our experience with them.
London was expensive for living and socialising but very worth the money, I had a fantastic year living there.
There were some great pubs near the river, and also nightclubs near by that weren't as expensive as the city centre.
There were work sports teams as well as intern sports teams, it was a great place to get involved with different activities.
