    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had a really great year working in the European theatrical marketing department. You are given real responsibility from your first day and encouraged to contribute to all projects. Social events are organised in your first few weeks so you get to meet all of the other interns working in other departments.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Interns make up a large percentage of the number of people in the department, and everyone is working on jobs with real responsibility. The department acknowledge your contribution in weekly department meetings where you discuss what you have been working on/future projects.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Throughout the year you have several performance review meetings to monitor your progress. These are really useful and are as much about acknowledging areas that you are excelling in as discussing ways to improve. They also provide an opportunity to discuss areas of work that you are interested in and would like to work on.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As everyone is given roles with real responsibility you are kept busy. Due to the nature of marketing campaigns for the film industry this can sometimes get very busy so it is important to be able to manage your time effectively

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • By the time that you leave you are the initial point of contact for media/creative agencies and markets when executing digital campaigns. Managers ensure that this responsibility is given to you progressively so you don't feel too out of your depth to begin with.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The year has taught me so much about both the film industry and the relationship between creative/media agencies and clients. I have developed my time management, confidence and understanding of the marketing process within a large organisation. I feel that this will help me in all aspects of my final year of university, from my personal time management to my understanding of the marketing process. It has also helped me decide what area I would most like to work in upon graduating.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The department is always busy, but all of my colleagues were fun and approachable which made for a busy but fun atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Warner Bros has been working with interns for many years and it shows in the well organised setup that they have. From organizing events for all of the interns at the beginning, to running intern training days, the whole year has felt very well structured.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Throughout the year you go on set training days. These cover a range of areas such as Myers Briggs training and presentation skills. The area that I feel they invest the most in you however is time and performance reviews/goal setting. By giving you so much responsibility you quickly learn and develop throughout the year.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Travel loan

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Being given so much responsibility throughout the year I am now confident that I am now in a much stronger position when applying to jobs after university. Whilst Warner Bros do not offer a formal graduate scheme, some of the existing full time staff previously completed internships within the company. I also feel that working so closely with media and creative agencies and developing a strong relationship with them has greatly enhanced my employment prospects.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, we frequently arranged and attended social events within the department as well as the wider WB team and media/creative agencies. Initially events are organised so that you get to meet all of the other interns for the year.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being based in London means that socializing can be quite expensive, but I think it is worth it for the variety of places to go.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • You are based in London so are never far away from somewhere to go!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, you are given volunteering days to encourage you to get involved with charity days events,
