The Role
Working at Warner Bros. as an intern for the past year has been one of the most rewarding and best experiences of my life! The people you work with and the amazing things you get to do and be involved in make this internship - I'd recommend it to anyone!
My team were so welcoming when I first started and although as a team we have gone through such change this year, with a majority of my team leaving the company, I have still felt very valued and supported.
My manager has been outstanding during my placement year. He's incredibly supportive, encouraging and has boosted my confidence massively during my year at WB. In terms of the surrounding teams, I have found that a majority of people will support and guide you if you are struggling with anything in particular and I have found everyone to be very approachable.
When I first started my placement I found that there wasn't much I could get involved in as I was still learning and getting to know all of the people and systems within the company. However, as my placement went on, my workload increased and now I feel I am a fully working member of the team with my own projects, daily tasks and general responsibilities.
Towards the end of my placement I was given so much responsibility which helped to improve my skills within the workplace and also expand my knowledge of the industry. I have been working on our Social Media strategy and ensuring this is implemented, worked on a number of Creative and PR projects, presented in WB's Quarterly presentation as well as my day-to-day responsibilities.
I study History at University so in terms of industry knowledge and the more specific marketing skills I have gained, will not apply to my final year. However, the skills I have acquired, such as communication, presentation and organisation, will definitely be applicable to my degree. The experience I have gained at Warner will be taken with me throughout my career and will definitely determine what kind of job I hope to go in to when I graduate.
The Company
Nearly everyone in the Office is friendly, approachable and lovely! People are always around to help with any questions you may have or will point you in the right direction of someone who can help.
It's obvious that WB have been running this internship for several years now. The internship is very well organised by HR, however, when you first arrive at Warner Bros. your responsibilities are a bit all over the place until you settle in and get to know all of the systems and departments.
There are a number of training courses that you take part in during your time at WB and you also have the opportunity to participate in external training courses.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Travel loan
The company does take back previous interns when they graduate, however, entry level jobs are limited when compared with how big the intern cohort is every year.
The Culture
Yes - this internship is very social and there are plenty of opportunities to go out with colleagues after work and to events. Also, I've found our intern group is very close this year and we go out at weekends and do stuff together during the week - it's really no different to Uni life socially!
It is very expensive living and socialising in London, especially, as I've found, I'm frequently traveling to visit family and Uni friends! As the internship is paid, this does make your financial situation a bit better but I've still found it very expensive.
As WB is in Central London, there are so many pubs, clubs and restaurants that you can go to - Choices are endless!
There are many opportunities for interns to get involved in volunteering and work events (drinks, screenings, premieres).
