About You
The insight was thoroughly enjoyable. I was in a seat I thought I would not enjoy, but the associate I was working with was able to explain all the necessary detail very clear, interesting and succinct manner.
At the time I was present at the firm quite a lot of the work involved dealing with complex regulations, so I could not fully get involved. However, I was asked to conduct research that would be used in the publication of a client alert, which made me feel somewhat valued.
All the partners, associates and trainees that I encountered at the firm were all very approachable. If you needed help on a specific task or required general guidance in terms of for example, career paths or application advice, they were all willing to help.
The insight scheme showed me how imperative and important the skill of writing is. It may seem like a trivial thing to mention but it is a skill that will be used for the whole duration of a lawyer’s career.
The Company
The insight scheme was well structured. There was an introductory session in the morning, which was great as we got to meet other individuals on the scheme. Also at the introductory session advice on applications and interview tips were given, which was of great value. Then we were sent off to our various seats. In the middle of the week we had a group catch up, which was also good, as it was nice to see how everybody else had been getting on.
The general atmosphere during the insight scheme was very friendly. Coming to such a global firm should have be a daunting experience but at Reed Smith it was not. There was always a friendly face around, even when people were busy they would still make time out to answer any necessary questions or offer work that could be done.
It is evident that the company is not just a British or American firm but rather a global firm. It is a firm which embraces diversity and promotion inclusion.
Everything Else
Yes. We had an session in which some trainees and associates attended.
There were activities involving pro bono work and responsible business
Most definitely. It is a firm I think that would be appealing to anyone.
