About You
Both on a professional and personal point of view, this scheme has been highly valuable to me. Indeed, I have completed great work and this scheme has confirmed my appeal for working as a solicitor. It has also enabled me to meet great people. I am thus delighted that such a great opportunity was given to me, because it will help me make better choices for career paths in the future.
I felt highly valued notably because I was sat in my supervisor's office. That helped me grasp in more detail his work as I was there when (s)he was responding to clients on the phone or (s)he was given instructions. The lawyers I worked with also made sure I was well integrated within the teams, which made me feel all the more valued.
We received a great support as catch-up sessions were organised by Graduate Recruitment. We also had social events or presentations to attend, which would always be a great opportunity to catch up with our peers.
This scheme has enabled me to strengthen skills that I developed thanks to previous schemes and experience. But this placement also helped me develop those skills to a higher level, by working for the firm's high-profile clients.
The Company
The structure was seamless as we have been provided with a detailed and exiting timetable before the start of the scheme. We were also sent reminders, which was really helpful to structure our day efficiently.
There was a great atmosphere at my desk but also during the social events organised. Everyone in the firm did put a lot of efforts in creating a pleasant atmosphere to work on, which helps complete work more efficiently.
Several great presentations were offered to us. This helped me develop skills that I think are key to be a successful lawyer.
By shadowing my supervisors' schedules and by staying in the firm for two weeks, I felt totally immersed, which helped me get a better idea of what it entails to be a City lawyer.
By being immersed within the firm, not only have I learnt more about the type of work the firm does, but I have also discovered the values it was attached to, which was all the more interesting.
Being able to work alongside my supervisors helped me understand how their work is organised as well as the skills they implement to tackle the issues coming up during the day. By finding that I share those skills was highly valuable to me, notably because it helps me understand more accurately why I want to qualify as a solicitor.
Everything Else
I was paid.
Yes, we had plenty of opportunities to network during the day but also during the several social events that were organised.
They were great as we had the opportunity to learn from the lawyer's experiences and different career paths.
Yes, I did.
Yes, I would definitely would.
