    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed the experience.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Had lots of tasks to do with more and more asks coming in all the time from people who needed my help. Made me feel like a really valued member of the team with a real contribution to the running of the business.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Manager was very supportive and extremely encouraging. Determined that I could get a job with GE and committed to helping me achieve this. If I needed support in day to day work I had four different colleagues to turn to who offered a buddy system.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Busy levels would vary day to day greatly. First and last week of the month would be very busy, middle two weeks were less so but not boring. Always had something to do and if you ran out you could participate in training to obtain more skills.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Left to do certain tasks which no one else would do, so you felt like your work was actually used and mattered.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Probably not assist me in my studies at University but definitely beyond. Has been a real eye opener and I am hopeful that I will be able to return to GE.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Atmosphere could be tense if it was a busy time but usually relaxed and friendly. All colleagues are always willing to offer help and have a chat.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. Can tell its asset up that spans many sites, countries and years. All managers know exactly what's expected and what you can get out of the placement as well as having clear time lines for you to follow.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Investment was satisfactory. Again there are lots of GE online training courses which were useful but getting funding for other courses could be difficult. They invest in you for a solid future but could offer more training outside of the on-job necessities.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare/Dental

    Travel loan

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. Applying for roles already!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were multiple other interns at my site along with apprentices and interns from Oil and Gas in the same building. We spent a lot of time together talking, helping and shadowing each other to gain exposure of multiple businesses.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Not expense as long as you know where to look. Seek advice from some one in the area first.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Excellent!!!!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of extra activities such as sports clubs, women's network, volunteering etc

    4/5
