The Role
I am really enjoying my time at Worcester Bosch. My job role means I never know what I will be doing on a daily basis - so I am continually learning and developing my IT Support skills and knowledge which keeps things exciting and interesting.
Colleagues in my office have been really welcoming from day one. I always feel comfortable to go to them for help if I am struggling to resolve a customer's problem.
As an IT support intern I come across a new problem almost everyday. I always try to resolve it myself - but if I am really struggling I will ask my manager or other colleagues for help and they are always happy to guide me in finding a solution for the issue.
The role is an on demand type role, what I do on a daily basis depends on when customers contact me and what their problem is. Some days can be quiet but others can be hectic and this means you need to pace yourself and prioritise tasks.
From day one I was given a lot of responsibility, if a customer contacts me with a problem it is my responsibility to sort it. I was given an admin account which means I am able to perform tasks on most of the computers on site which other colleagues are not able to do. I have also been involved in a training project which involved myself and two other interns where we were responsible for presenting training sessions to entire departments either alone or with another, this was a brilliant opportunity to have so early on in my placement. I am sometimes responsible for logging maintenance calls and arranging engineers to come on site to repair faulty devices.
My IT knowledge has increased dramatically during my time here. This as well as the soft skills I've developed such as oral and written communication are skills that will definitely benefit me during my final year at university and in my future IT career.
The Company
Everyone is really friendly and approachable, we regularly chat about things outside of work. Sometimes the office is quiet as people are busy and colleagues frequently go on business trips; it is rare that we have a full office. It is a nice atmosphere and I enjoy working within my office.
I think the internships here have occurred every year for a few years now so the work placement is well set up. All interns have the opportunity to go to an ice breaker event and there are regular meetings with a HR office and your manager to check everything is going as planned. There is a small list of requirements, including a starting and leaving presentation, that you are encouraged to complete which you will be rewarded for, but apart from that you are considered to be a 'proper' member of staff and therefore get on with real work.

I am really enjoying my time at Worcester Bosch. When I say everybody is friendly, I'm not exaggerating! It is such a lovely place to work and I'd genuinely be interested in working here in the future. The fact that the majority of staff have worked here a very long time is encouraging.
The Culture
There are around 40 interns here so there are lots of interns to communicate with, I get on really well with the other interns.
I commute from half and hour away so I'm not too sure about the cost of living in Worcester!
