The Role
I am currently really enjoying the placement I am taking at Worcester Bosch. There are tonnes of opportunities to get involved in projects, work in other departments as well as visit other Bosch sites.
The office I was based in was very relaxed and everyone was very friendly. It was also useful as our department was divided in to different sections depending on the work they conducted. This allows me to gain knowledge about other IT job roles and the work they do.
After 8 weeks of being at Worcester Bosch I has a review with my manager, this gave me something to work towards and areas of improvement. There is also a review at the end of my placement so the company can see my progression. I was very lucky to be able to work alongside another intern in the department so we were able to support each other on day to day tasks and customer queries. However the management support was very useful and everyone was approachable and willing to help.
Each day varied depending on the amount of customer requests and project work we had at the time. Some weeks would be very busy and other a little slow, however this allows time to talk to other members of the department and gain an understanding of work they are doing and different projects they are working on.
Between the other intern and myself we dealt with majority of the customer queries that came through the IT Helpdesk with the support of other people in our department. I was also given the opportunity to be a part of the team that rolled out IT training to all associates based at the Worcester site. Worcester Bosch are very positive in giving interns responsibilities and daily tasks.
The job I am currently doing at Worcester Bosch will most certainly help with my degree when I go back for my final year as what I'm doing is in line with some of the modules I have taken. I have also been able to gain further hardware knowledge as I mainly deal with software on my course.
The Company
The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed and everyone got on with each other fine.
The placement is well organised especially for interns who are not from Worcester.
Worcester Bosch invest a lot of money each year in to the Placement Scheme making sure interns gain relevant industrial experience to help them progress. There is also many interns who get kept on after placement for graduate roles or part time work.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Within the organisation there are lots of employment opportunities however this depends on the department you work in and the need for staff.
The Culture
All the placement students get lunch at the same time allowing everyone to come together every day and there is also Worcester Bosch Interns Facebook group where people post different nights out and activities so everyone can meet up and socialise.
Fairly normal for a city.
The nightlife is very good with tonnes of different bars and restaurants along with a few big night clubs which always offer events all throught the year.
There is a Worcester Bosch social group which organise events to theme parks etc.
